Memorial Day Weekend

We had hopes of taking the kids to the pool for the first time Memorial day weekend, but due to lots of rain and cooler temps, we did not make it. Maybe later in the summer.
We did a one year tradition that we missed on the twins' actual 1 year birth day. A pencil, string and money are placed in front of the child. They symbolize intellectualism (will be smart), will have long life and will be rich, respectively.
First we had Chelsea pick. She chose the pencil - not suprisingly. She seems to figure stuff out on her own, as well, as picks up stuff she sees others do. She is trying to figure out the cabinet locks, after realizing that they are keeping her from opening the cabinet. She has started stacking blocks and likes to put things into containers. She loves to push furniture so she helped push Halmunee's wheel chair and also did some redecorating by moving the kithen chair.
Colman chose money! We did this test twice with each kid, the first to video tape, the second to take pictures of. On both occassions, the kids chose the same things. Colman picked up the money, looked at the string of yarn, then turned and walked off with the money. We are hoping his idea of getting rich does not consist of "take the money and run." He also loves when daddy chases him; he giggles and runs away. Grab money, be chased...hmmm?
We don't know what the kids will become. As parents, we have dreams that our kids will reach their fullest potential through hard work and perseverence. More importantly, it is our prayer and hope that CnC will grow up to know the love and grace of Jesus and the joy of sharing that love with others.

Blooper reel

I have attached some Easter pics. The kids are so cute dressed up in their Sunday best. But getting pictures of the cuteness is sometimes a challenge. Occassionally the challenging moments can be endearing... though that sentiment quickly fades. We endure a lot for the hopes of that shot that captures the sweetness... or we settle for kids that sat still. We are glad for the digital camera era.
Pics before a nap, what were we thinking??
When they start moving, we gotta strap them down to get pictures of the two together...

The winner.

Chelsea gets in step

For turning one, we took pics of the kids in traditional Korean gowns. More to come... Chelsea is officially walking. In honor of her birthday and Mother's day, she learned to walk. She had been taking a few steps on and off for the last few weeks. She would take a couple of steps and lunge toward whomever she was walking toward. By Mom's Day, she was plodding around Carol's parents' house, no lunging. As of today, she is almost exclusively walking, although it is not a very steady gait. Amazing what a couple of days can do.
We think that Colman being able to grab a toy and run, was some motivation for her to walk. She is normally the one that wins in the toy grab contest. But when Colman walks away with the toy, crawling after him was not very effective. Colman is a pretty good walker now. He still stumbles. It is funny watching the momentum get away from him; he can usually still put the breaks on before a face plant ensues. He likes to do laps around the family room, carrying a toy or two.
Now when Chelsea walks and hears music, she stops to dance by bobbing up and down or shaking her little butt. Don't know where she got those moves, but she makes them look good.

Wingerd Family Fun

The week before Easter, we had the joy of hosting the Wingerd family, Doug's sister Marcia and her crew - Byron, Emma, Caroline, Lauren, who were able to meet CnC for the first time. We enjoyed hanging out, eating and playing. We also visited the Exploration of Antiquities museum and enjoyed a hike through the Auburn U. Forest Ecology Preserve. And of course it would not be Easter without egg coloring and a Easter egg hunt. Colman and Chelsea missed the hunt since it was getting a little chilly and they both had colds. But they watched from the window. We also had a Easter egg pinata.
All three girls were great with the twins. Caroline was always first to get up in the mornings, besides Doug, to help with the babies and play with them. CnC loved hanging out the Wingerds. Colman was giving big hugs to all and Chelsea was giving her signature nose crinkling smile. We had a blast and loved seeing the kids interact with their big cousins.
